ekbelt Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 Went out with a buddy last night and we ended up 4 for 4--all kings (and some nice ones too!)Started in 170 and did a west troll out to 200. Swung around and went all the way into 150 and tried to stay in that area the rest of the night. Beautiful night on the water, it was like glass.Downrigger 170 down - white paddle green fly - 15lb kingDownrigger 170 down - white paddle green fly - 15lb kingDownrigger 150 down - white paddle green fly - 11lb king5 color jerry lee silver streak mini - shaker kingWas really suprised to not get into any cohos. We moved in searching for them but couldn't get any. Tons of huge hooks in the 150-190 area.Talked with a guy at the fish cleaning station and a guy in the morning had 15 cohos in close--50-60fow. Thats about all the information I got. Maybe the cohos are on the move?? The kings were blast, first I've got this year.
Just Hook'n Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 Very nice job Erik. WOW, those fish are down there.
Wasabi Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 Thanks for the update and good job! I am gonna need to upgrade to electric downriggers and get more cable if they stay that deep!
Ergude Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 Awesome job Erik. The cohos can't be beat for eating, but there's no comparison at all when you pull that pole out of the holder and a king's on the other end.BTW, that's really deep. How heavy DR ball are you using and what shape. Blowback an issue?
