GLF Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 I had to get one last trip in before I have the boat pulled on Monday. So...I gave my buddy Dv8oR a shout and drug him away from his chicken shed building project. Marine Forecast GALE WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING Waves 5-8' building to 8-12' The weather was not in our favor, and we were not going to try it on the big lake. We went to the end of the piers, turned the boat around and set 6 lines in hopes of picking up a stray steelie, as we headed back up the channel. We did not pickup anything in the channel, so I told Dv8oR, I knew where we could pick up some pike. We headed over by the channel that heads to bear lake, turned North, and set 3 lines. It did not take long, less than 50 yds and we had a fish on. Turned out to be a 28" northern. This was the first fish in the new boat, and Dv8oR was kind enough to let me reel it in. Yaaaa, I know...it was not a salmon, but it still had the fishy smell After getting all of the baits buried in the weeds the second time, and the gale force winds, we decided to call it a day. The boat is being pulled Monday. Its going to be a long winter Is it spring yet?
Dv8oR Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 I had fun..........Hardcore baby!We did actually step out on the big lake for the briefest of moments!GLF gave me the warmer looking jacket, with the hood, and I was the one with the long johns on!I'm sure with as stiff as the wind was right out of the North, it was a pain in the face setting lines. (Mind you I was driving playing with the tunes and staying nice and warm)!Glad ya called to let me help you put a fish in that new vessel or yours!Anytime bro!T
