I'm trying to find a link to down a Mer Cruiser Manual for a 170hp 4 cyclinder.

More importantly I put new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and points on and now a rough idle, thinkning my points are not set right, looking for a push in the right direction,

I have an inline 6 mercuiser i had the say problem with mine i put an electronic ignition on never had a problem after that

nate sounds like a timing issue. a timing light and a google search of the proper setting should be enough to get er done

The problem with points is u have to set the dwell with a dwell meter with are hard to come buy now adays. But if you put in an electronic ign should eliminate those issues.

If you can put a pertronix ignition in it to eliminate the point it will save you a lot of grief.

Check out this catalog. Go down to marins stuff and look for your motor in the mercruiser section. I have done this conversion twice now on a 6 and a v8.
