Casey II Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Fished from 0900-1200. 2/2 with one small king and a brown. No coho? Didn't see a fish come off the piers or on the other boats. Fished both piers and south to the white wall. Covered 8ft out to 28ft. Surface temp ranged from 44-45 deg.Tight Lines
ekbelt Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Thanks for the report! Was the water pretty dirty yet?
Just Hook'n Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 I wondered about dirty water too. Hoping to get out Saturday, but the fog may be interesting. Thanks for the report.
Priority1 Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 Mark, Thanks for the report. GJ on the King and Brown.
SUPERTRAMP Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 Last 2 years the dirty water was where u needed to be early. Last year March 31 we limited out in 20 minutes staying in the dirty water. That is the warmest around and if u look at the whole pic that dirty water is only in about the top 6 to 8 feet . Try it and see if u dont find fish. If they are there yet. I really think that Michigan City is probably the best bet this early. But we are putting the boat in the slip in St Joe Saturday.
Casey II Posted March 16, 2012 Author Posted March 16, 2012 The water clarity was perfect-stained to muddy and warm. Much warmer than last year. I started 2011 March 24th with a surface temp in the mud of 38 deg and fast limits. This year that same water is 45 deg. Maybe just a little early yet. I hope you guys get them this weekend.
