sslopok Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 With the nice weather here I figured I better get my butt in gear. I need to mount my new vhf radio. I am not finding a great spot to mount it. Can I mount it in my glove box? There is plenty of room to make sure the cooling fins wont be too close to anything. I am hoping it won't be a problem. Don't chat on the radio. Just for safety measures.ThanksBrandon
killerbe20 Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 I do not see any reason why not. Many boats have all their electronics mounted inside of boxes for storage and security reasons
sherman51 Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 i have to agree with killerbe on this one. i have seen boats with all electronics boxed overhead. it shouldnt hurt anything. but this is just my opinion. if someone know for sure please chime in. i think its a great idea.sherman
Line Dancin Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 My dads little boat we did that and then mounted an external speaker to hear the radio better as it was muffled in the glove box. The speakers run like 8 bucks at radio shack to do that.
sslopok Posted March 8, 2012 Author Posted March 8, 2012 Thanks guys! Only thing I was worried about was overheating the unit due to lack of airflow.
jay d Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 heat is the only thing you might have a problem with.if you have a black dash just lay a white towel over it on those hot day and you should be good:thumb:
sslopok Posted March 8, 2012 Author Posted March 8, 2012 The dash is black. I figured when it was on I could just keep glove box open.
