Salmon Assassin Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 I have a Lowrance LCX27, I am looking to get a Navonics chip to show depths and contours, which is the best chip for me? Looking for lake michigan only.
2UNREEL Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 I use the lakemaster pro maps michigan in my Lowrance globalmap. Otherwise when I researched a few years back you needed the fishing chip from navionics in order to get the high detail depth contours. Things have changed alot since then so the newer software may have all that included.
scgibby11 Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 I have the same unit. Currently I have been using hotmaps for the upper midwest region. I like its maps for inland, but have not liked them much for great lakes. I'm looking at Navionics Fish-G. I think that is what I'm going to settle on.Scott
jimcr Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 I spoke with a rep from lowrance and he told me that the fish and chip would be the one to get . There is also some new stuff coming out with navionics. But he wasn,t sure who's maps they were going to be yet.
killerbe20 Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 I am not a Lowrance guy so I am only going off what I have seen and been told at the sports shows....Apparently Lowrance has a new chip that is supposed to be better than the Lakemaster chip. I was really impressed with the contour lines it had. The hills off Racine were very well mapped out. I personally have not seen any plotter with that much detail, that far from shore. Stop by the booth at the Milwaukee Sports Show and check it out.
Line Dancin Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 I was looking at the 2012 chip for my HDS. Right now i am using an old nautic path and Lake Master Pro Maps. I like certain feature on each and both will work. I was talking with the guys at the Lowrance booth that i know about the new mapping software and it is going to be like 200 - 250 for the 2012 maps. The 2011 were like 200 and some places are clearing those out for the new ones. They are supposed to have really did a good job on these new chips from what i was told. I found last years (2011) Lake insight HD on amazon for 98 bucks right now.
scgibby11 Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Yes, the fish-n-chip comes in many flavors. The one I just purchased is the fish-g (great lakes). We'll see how it goes.Scott
