Moby Dick Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Put my ice fishing stuff away 3 weeks ago and looking forward to some spring cohos. The boat is ready to go and I'm ready to hit New Buffalo for some cohos.
ekbelt Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 I'm ready to roll too..really itchin to get down to New Buffalo but I think I'm going to wait until the satellite maps show the water is starting to warm up.
Killin' It Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Went 4.5 yesterday... 1 king/coho 1 brown 2 steel. Lost another brown at the net. 4 other fish lost to a rookie.
Moby Dick Posted March 4, 2012 Author Posted March 4, 2012 I'm just waiting for the lake to lay down. It seems like they are always hungry even when the water is cold after the winter ice.
Killin' It Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 should have fished this morning, but thought it was going to be rough as snot. ... I was wrong... So sleeping in was a good second option.
Far Beyond Driven Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 Holland 0/1, St. Joe 3/4, and Milwaukee 9/12. Already only 2 browns behind my count for last year.Heard a solid report out of Ludington too.
Killin' It Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 1 for 1 tonight from Dane, between Holland and saugy.

ekbelt Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 Pulled the boat out of storage yesterday and starting to get everything setup. Planning on hitting either New Buffalo or St Joe on March 24th. Looking at the 10 day forecast with 70's next week the lake should be warming up!
Just Hook'n Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 Early in the week it was forecasted for Saturday to be an 8mph east wind and 50 and sunny. OBVIOUSLY it changed. I was hoping to get out Saturday too, even had it lined up, but then I saw the marine forecast and stopped planning immediately. If you look at the web cam today, they are pretty nasty.
Mushy's Dad Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 The boat gets unpacked out of the garage this weekend. I got the darn thing jammed in there like a bad game of tetris!!! Then down to Milwaukee for some Browns on the 17th, hopefully!
Line Dancin Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 I am picking mine up tonight. hopefully i will have it ready in a couple weeks to go.
steeliebob Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 I still see lots of floating ice on L Huron (mackinac island) just outside of my office. I was ice fishing on Sunday and caught a real nice steelhead on a tip up. If I can get a little steelhead fishing in first I will be looking to get out on the big lake. I need to get on the river for some chrome action soon.
Moby Dick Posted April 7, 2012 Author Posted April 7, 2012 Going out of St Joe for the first time this year. The weather hasn't aligned with my schedule. My brother and friends caught 2 browns, 1 King and 13 coho last saturday. I hoping for 10 coho. They are so good in the smoker.
