Idle Time Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Simply awesome. Looks huge for a 22 footer. Nice rig!
danthebuilder Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 I always wondered how netting fish were over those motors & transom extension. I love it but I worry about it. Do you put your foot on the swim platform?
silver one Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Sweet looking ride. Hews is a great boat.
Just Hook'n Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 VERY Nice ride. That size can get you anywhere.
Chummer Posted February 16, 2012 Author Posted February 16, 2012 Dan,I had same concern but all has worked out fine. All fish are netted off starboard side. Many Hewes owners do stand out on the platform especially for that "tourney fish". I promised my wife I would never do that, nor would I let anyone else. No fish is worth a potential accident. Thanks for the comments guys!
Priority1 Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Actually I prefer to net off one of the corners. If I have an out and down in I temporarily swing it to the rear. When the fish is about right a slight turn puts him right in the basket. A good helmsman can see what is happening and do his thing. That is another reasons I don't like a rod pointed skyward especially when the fish is close. I like the rod handler right behind me.
mattmishler Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 I net fish where ever i can scoop them lol. port, starboard, stern and even the bow lol
Priority1 Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 I net fish where ever i can scoop them lol. port, starboard, stern and even the bow lol Matt, I do likewise but my favorite spots are the corners. You may have me on the netting off the bow. I haven't had to try that yet.
