Rigger Cable Replacement?

I have Cannon Manual riggers that are about 8 years old. They have always been stored in the basement for the winters and the cable looks good. I have always run 10 pound balls, but just bought 15 pounders to eliminate blowback for the days where we fish a bit deeper.

Is there any reason I should be changing the cable out for this extra weight? Does it go bad over time?

As long as it looks good you should be fine. Most down rigger cable is 150 pound test.

like he says, as long as it looks good and has no kinks in it , it should be fine.

Also if you have any crimps on you cable make sure you inspect that area.
