buster107 Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 What way do you rig your fly ?? The tied side to to hooks or to the flasher???
Nailer Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Great Question buster. On our big paddles (11") the fly is always wrap forward, or small way. 8" flashers, I have the fly the big way (Wrap toward the hook). My 8" flashers will normally have a 21-26" leader, and the 11" paddles have a 36+ leader.
Hotdog71 Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 I think I run mine about 50/50. Some of the BW flies are ment to run toward the flasher where others, like the ones I tie, run the other way. I think whatever catches fish is a good to run them
Priority1 Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Nailer uses the 3 times the flasher length rule.
Line Dancin Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Ken do you notice a diffence in catches with flipping the way the skirt is going? Also do you notice any damage to the mylar where you fold it back/ flies not lasting as long folding it over the wraps? I have seen your post on doing that and someone posted on here or another site they do fold back the skirt and i am curious about it.
SUPERTRAMP Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 You might want to take a look at the Bass fishing Spinner Bait Skirts, the pulsation that you want is created by putting the tie toward the hooks and letting the skirt go back over itself. When the flasher swings or causes forward motion the skirt pusles like a squid. I think Nailer ties em right. I do however use longer leads with my 11" flashers. The rule of thumb I use is from the sternum tothe deck.
