schase1 Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 Does anyone have any input on the Evinrude FICHT outboards?? Been looking at a 2000 Proline WA with a 225HP Evinrude FICHT outboard was wondering if they are good or bad?thanks in advance
sslopok Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 If i remember correctly that motor self grenaded quite often. Google it and I think you'll find enough to make your decision.Good Luck!
ozzy1377 Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 I have a 2000, 115 hp Evinrude Ficht and have had zero problems with it. I have owned it since it was new.
sslopok Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 Found this link. May help or not. http://continuouswave.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/001558.html
silver one Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 The other down side is that parts from Bombadier are very expensive. just ask anyone who has owned a ski doo snowmobile.
Leafybug Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 I know that injection system on those was short lived, maybe only a couple of years in production. I was looking at a pair of 200's on an aquasport and I really didnt find too many good thing about them. Although there will be some guys that swear by them.
Far Beyond Driven Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 The FICHT became the e-TEC. When management changed hands, they reviewed the design and it was sound, but some of the components in the FICHT were either not specified to the tolerances needed, or not built to the tolerances specified. I recall reading that every part in WIP was measured and lots ended up being thrown out.
IRon Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 A lot of discussions about them here:http://www.bbcboards.net/zeroforum?id=51
Paulywood Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 I know some guys replace the I with a u, because they are ficht up engines. A lot of guys just mixed the oil to bypass the injection system. I would be wary.
