onlyflyfish4vr Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 Finally a break in the waves. 3 hr. mid day troll working depths from 6' to 30'. Started with a double in 25 fow. Lost fish on orange j-11 Rapala and board. landed an over 30" (pike skinny) Laker on Craigs SH spoon 100' back on DR 15 down. Lost 2 other ??? (seemed like SH) on flatlines. 1 orange/black ladder back Silver Horde, and a Wonderbread Bomber. Went shallow to end day. While pulling lines, had DR set 5 ft. down and pulled line to have 5 lb. Brown grab it. Nice day, especially considering it's less than 2 weeks from Christmas.
Eliminator Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 Way to stay at it. Looks like we could do a Christmas fish this year!!
Far Beyond Driven Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 Now I'm going to have to go out - can't let you end your season after I do. My latest trip is 12/31 and my earliest is 2/19 - maybe we can get January this year? Good job.

onlyflyfish4vr Posted December 14, 2011 Author Posted December 14, 2011 I'm thinking we may be able to Kevin. Water temps were 39-43. Hoping the water will clear more. It was pretty murky from 15 fow to beach.
Nailer Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 just want to say hi to everybodyWelcome Bill.Nice job on the fish Eric.
wild at heart Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 nice job Eric. Did you notice if the brown had a vent fin clip. Still looking for evidence of the 2010 plant of 25k browns planted in Holland. Have not seen a single one show up yet.
steeliebob Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 I almost made on the ice on Sunday but decided to wait until 12/24. I can't believe that you guys downstate are still going out in the boats. Nice brown trout you caught there. In the spring it is funny that you guys are lined up to launch boats and I see miles of ice for 6 weeks longer.
onlyflyfish4vr Posted December 15, 2011 Author Posted December 15, 2011 No ventral/pelvic fin clip. It did have a pec. fin clipped. I'll keep this is in mind. They're not head tagged are they?
Sea Eagle Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 You are my hero. I'm so jealous. I wish my boat was not put up.I have an old fishing buddy who moved to California, but still has a boat in his dads heated pole barn. He is coming home for the holidays and said he might be up for a fishing trip on the big lake. Thanks for the report.
Priority1 Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 just want to say hi to everybody Bill, A warm welcome to the GLF site.
Far Beyond Driven Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 Looks clouded up past the pier heads in Holland right now. Silly 40-50 mph winds.....
wild at heart Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 No coded wire in the head just a left ventricle clip on the 2010 plant of Sturegon river speceis. Should be 5 to 10# fish next spring.
