JWheeler Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 Made the final voyage this fall out of Arcadia. Cold water plagued the fishing IMO. 44* all over the place, did look at satellite temps and ran west 21 miles and was in the 53* water. Ended Saturday with 3 steel. One in the cold water and a double as soon as we landed in the warm water off shore. Once out there we just couldn't get them going. Sunday was more of the same, didn't make the run. Tried fishing in tighter where there was a bit of warmer water up to 48* and got 3 nice lakers that were released. 48* didn't cover much area and we were right back into the 44* crap.Saturday was 3 & 4 colorSunday was 9 color, rigger parked deep.By far the biggest struggle of the year for the crew and I. Looking forward to some revenge next year! tight lines
EdB Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 Good job in tough conditions. One of my buddies got blanked at Onekama last Sat and didn't fish Sunday and pulled his boat
mlercel Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 We had the same issues off Onekama on Sunday; cold water from the pier out to 15 miles and from top to bottom. Ended 4-6 steelhead and a couple of coho dinks on surfaces lines and 3-5 color lead. Great year but you hate to go out on a struggle catch after such awesome fishing the entire summer and fall!!
