Do I need long shaft or xl long shaft kicker?

I just bought a 19' Monark 190 King, which is an aluminum boat. It has a stepped transom. I measure the transom where I want to mount the kicker. It is 23" from the top of the transom straight down to the bottom of the hull. The lowest point of the hull (under the main motor) is 28 inches.

Can I get away with running a long shaft (20 inches), or do I need to run a xl long (25 inches) shaft?

I really don't want to run a bracket and hope one of the 2 will work.

Get the Xtra long shaft.. if its choppy it helps keep the boat going.
