BRIAN0214 Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 I caught a 8lb steelhead last weekend and while I filleting it I noticed it stomach was very large. So I cut it open and this black goo with a pair of eyes is looking back at me. I have to admit it kind of scared me. Then I noticed as I am running the fish under water as I am doing this the sink is filling up with feathers!!! It was a bird!!! With the foggy weekend a bird must of lost it bearings and landed in the water and little jaws came in and ate him. I just found this kind of strange. Whats the strangest things you guys have found in fishes stomachs.
N II Deep Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 my knife, cause I don't seem to boat as many as others....
ALLEYES Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 I caught a bass with a ground mole in it's stomach.
LongLine Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 This yea,r it was a decent fish that had just eaten a little fish that had just eaten a "littler" fish. (I pulled the "littler" one out with pliers then decided to photo.)
KJ pluggin Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 I caught a 12" or so brown out of a stream near my place with a mouse in it once, I thought that was a pretty hefty meal for a little trout.
Eliminator Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 my knife, cause I don't seem to boat as many as others.... That made me laugh really hard!!
picman Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 I caught a 10" yellow perch last week that had a 6" gobie in it. The tail was still sticking out into the mouth. Why it wanted my 1" minnow, I'll never know
EdB Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 Wow, that's the first time I've ever heard of a steelie eating a bird.
BenLubbs Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 I've hear of pike eating baby ducks but never a steelhead eating a bird. A few weeks ago I caught a lake trout and the air bladder was bloated. When I cut it open out popped a half digested alwife with a bloated air bladder.
Far Beyond Driven Posted September 16, 2011 Posted September 16, 2011 I love the fish in a fish in a fish...We took a river steelie one time that had about a 6" rock bass it in, looked like a snake that just ate a rabbit.

Rascal Trophy Fishing Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 How about steelies full of black beetles in the mid-fall, just loaded, every fish, hundreds. Not lately but it did happen. Never a bird though, good post. You're funny Kevin, that's a hoot!
willfishforfood Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Here in the West we have a small bird( dipper) that walks into the water and from time to time I hear of a steelhead had eaten one
