Got ripped going down the channel by some guy in a Rinker that told me I was an ass for running planer boards in the channel.

Later he was running in the dark without nav lights. But I'm evil as I run planer boards in the channel. I spend a LOT of time in the channel and haven't crossed lines with any one in about 10 years.

That said, 5/6 last night. And 5 of the hits, well they came on PLANER BOARDS! Including one that hit right as we passed said Rinker.

Silver J 10' down took a 21# king, and the rest were something that didn't stick long, a 12# sheepie, and kings at 16, 17 and 17#.

Fun night, lots of traffic, and more poorly set riggers (I like the ones with no tension at all standing straight up). And by the way, I'm not dragging something, they're called trolling bags, but thanks for asking.....

Not really. But St. Joe has more pier fisherman. I'll choke a spread up faster for them as they don't have options than I will for boats.

Boards are set about 5' out from the slide divers.

Last week when no one was in the channel, we were running 2 per side.

I run 2 boards and 2 riggers... without issue.

I run the board rods in the diver holders and set them 5 feet off the tip of the rod. The rods are closer to the boat than if I ran a diver.

I got hit with a spoon yesterday morning. That was interesting. Even better it was from the opposite side of the channel.

Needless to say my pier friends took care of that problem for me:)

Ahhh, combat fishing. Even better with rookies.

Dave, you made friends with people that fish the pier?

That is awesome.

Nice to have some lead chuckers on your side.

Do they aim at sailboats for a price????

Dave is a reformed lead chucker, now he is on the other side. I agree with Kevin, I will gladly go out of my way to give the pier guys room, but the sailboat turning around in the middle of the channel, he needs to learn some manners. I thought everyone was well behaved yesterday, for the most part. It was my first real "combat fishing" experience and went well.

1 old guy took a verbal lashin from my father in law for his attack on me!!

LOL!!

Nope I am a firm beliver in channel is for boats lake side is for the pier. Don't cut the end of the pier and you wont have any issues.

Jimmy, last night someone on the north side landed a spoon on the opposite side right next to big red 10 ft behind my boat. Nick has it right about sail boats too, some A$$ decided to pull a Uturn 15ft off the back of my boat, lucky he didn't have a keel or he'd have ended up with one of my 2lb balls in his boat.
