Maxum
I am looking to respool my down rigger rods. Currently I have 17# Big Game on most of them and have lost a few fish lately after my line has broken. I have tried Spiderwire on one but always have trouble with it staying in the clips.Suggestions? What have you found reliable?
UBDSLO1
P-Line CXX Xtra strong, clear, 20lb. It's the only stuff I use now.
BenLubbs
I use 20 lb Big game and have never been broken off with it. I make sure to check the line for frays as I let it out every time and make sure to cut right away if I find one. I have a couple reels spooled with 12 lb berkly that I was going to use for running spoons this year but didn't have any problems catching fish. I'll probably make them SWR rigs. Nailer
I have yet to break my 20# Pline. Very impressed with it. going on 3 years.
BlueCollarOutdoors
Another vote for 20 pound big game. I run it on riggers, dipseys, highlines, leadcore leaders. Stuffs cheap and has never given me any problems. No breakages here.
soko44mag
Currently running #20 Big game and #20 Ande, no problems with either , yet. The Ande has been very impressive though when a fish rolls or dives in the rigger wires, very tough stuff!!!!
ALLEYES
20# Triplefish line with 20# Triplefish Fluoro leader.
Adam Bomb
20# big game has been fantastic for me on the rigger rods. Great line IMO.
adrenalin
20# big game. It don't matter what line you use, every once in a while it's gonna break. You can't find all the knicks and cuts so don't think big game is your problem.

I had some reels with the line going on 3rd season, two of them broke off with no load on them. The tackle I lost cost more than a 2600 yd spool of the big game. Line Dancin
20 lb Big game here also. i respool every spring on my rigger rods.
Maxum
Thanks for the great replies. Only been fishing 3 years and this is the first time respooling. I would have had a few more fish in the box and more tackle in my box if I had done it earlier!
jimcr
20lb big game here too. Check often for nicks in the line, change it when you find problems, its cheep and works well.
BenLubbs
Actually had my first break off ever today on my rigger with 20lb big game, but it was due to horsing the fish too much and having the drag too tight. Still sucks losing 15 bucks worth of gear, especially when you don't have multiples
Rascal Trophy Fishing
I also like 20# Big Game, also 17 & 20# XT, this time of year. Way earlier to July, 12 & 15# mono for smaller fish targeted, sometimes smaller reels/open face too, adds action to equation.
