gspsteel Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Thinking of hitting the nearest port this weekend which will be Oscoda to our families cabin. I haven't fished there in 15 years. Can you still launch at Bunyantown? I have never launched out of the au sable before anything to be cautious of? Any guidance on what to focus on? Lakers / Kings / Steel? boats all rigged up and ready for Ludington, but gonna head north with the family this weekend. Thanks!Troy
rogerh69 Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Hear some lakers and couple salmon caught in 100 FOW. I'll be up by this Harrisville this weekend trying for anything out of Black River. Haven't fished there for 3 years but gonna try and see if I can catch something. Used to catch lots of kings there before the crash.
Fresh spawn Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 You can launch right at the mouth there, very nice docks. They've caught a lot of steelhead out there this summer, and more salmon than normal.
steeliebob Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 Run your balls about 40 to 60 feet deep, then run sliders or stackers about half waf up with long leads 100 feet or so with small spoons on top. It is a great way to hit lake trout or salmon deep and steelhead up high.
