flyman013 Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 I have an Evinrude 40hp 2 cycle outboard with the oil injection fuel pump. I went to put oil in my tank only to realize my dad used my oil bottle to mix his fuel for the chainsaw:mad:. I managed to dump about an 1/8 qt. of 40:1 mixed fuel and oil before I realized what I was doing. Should I dump the whole oil tank (about one gallon) and start new, or will the gas in the oil not hurt anything?? Thanks.
flyman013 Posted August 30, 2011 Author Posted August 30, 2011 better safe than sorry.Yeah, I'm thinking that already. Thanks.
ballsdeep184 Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Get rid of that vro and just premix your gas and oil together , that's the safest way
prop nut Posted October 30, 2011 Posted October 30, 2011 get rid of the vro all together put the vro elimination kit in its place mix the oil like old school before you have a problem
sherman51 Posted October 30, 2011 Posted October 30, 2011 if you continue to use the vro. you want to get the gas oil mixture out. otherwise your not going to be getting enough oil mixed with your gas. could really cause some major problems. and like others i have heard bad things about the vro,s. sounds like they are just a blown engine waiting to happen. pre mixing is not really that much trouble.sherman
flyman013 Posted October 30, 2011 Author Posted October 30, 2011 Thanks everyone. Looks like I'll put a new fuel pump on next year's budget. Anyone know where I can get the conversion? Can I just go to an Evinrude dealer or is it aftermarket?
