fisherman5 Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 WOW Salmon fishing at its best. Coho , Chinooks Big fish We had hits on Glow in the dark J plugs to start off. Moonshine spoons all mornin. Escanaba flash spoons took a Big Coho and King. We didnt get the spinnys to pop however I Like the Flash and left um down anyway I think it helps attract the fish to the set up. My son and I had a great Father Son day on the water. It does not get any better than this to me. Last year I was very Disappointed in the Port of Muskegon. Not this year SALMON are HITTING and they are BIG BIG BIG UNS....................................
Fishmael Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Yes Muskegon has been hot! Glad to see you had fun with the son, I had it the other way 2 nights ago taking my father and mother out on my boat :-)
fishsniffer Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 a lot of people like to talk smack about muskegon..in my opinion other than the circus that can happen in the arms this time of year..its one of the best ports to fish
Flyboy Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Its great fun when you can fish and catch with your son. Muskegon has been very good. Enjoy!
Far Beyond Driven Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 I go to the freak show for entertainment value, if we catch a fish in there it's a bonus.I'm thinking of Muskegon Harbor patrol Bingo. Everyone gets a card, when you see the following you cross it off:Jigger who won't move almost getting hit by ferry.Pier fisherman lines ran over by boat.Pier fisherman flinging pyramid sinkers at boats.Guy who crash stops after running gear into rocks.Kayak trolling.Blue tri-hullRed tri-hullYellow tri-hullTri-hull so oxidized original color cannot be determined.Duck boat trolling. If with long shaft motor on the back, pick any other square.Pontoon boat trolling. If with grill on boat being used to cook, pick any other square.Guy solo in 12' boat or less.Guy solo in 12' boat or less running snagging gear.Boat with 14" wide landing net.14" wide net being used.Seeing a hit on a boat before they do.Boat trolling opposite every one else.Boat running boards down the channel.

N II Deep Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 If that made you laugh, drive out where most of these folks live. I'm from that area and have a good chuckle every time I go out to the mother in laws. Once seen a 1979 Buick regal 4*4 w/6" lift. Fishing is great out of muskegon. And the shoreline is much better on muskegon lake than it was 20 years ago. Thanks fisherman5 lol:lol::lol::lol: I've seen some of that before :lol: I'm rolling on the floor:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: My tummy hurts:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:
EdB Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Probably should regain my composure.Duck boat trolling....That used to be me 30 years ago. Had 2 homemade downriggers with 2x6 frames, washing machine pulleys and a nail to set your depth. Had a simple round flasher depth finder like they use for ice fishing now and 2 rods with j plugs. At least we lived in a nice place.
Fishsporttom Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Now that is a bingo game I could win. Entertainment on and in the water who could ask for anything more.
MoJoRisin' Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 I got one more to add to the card:Watch for the sailboat that looses the battle with end of s pier and the crowd goes "oooohhhh!" The guys on the pier right at the lighthouse almost got hit by his mast!
rwm Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 how about the sailboats coming it to look at you fighing a fish and run over one of you boards and then yells at me to get my boat under control. I think they have some kind off boat time this week end in muskegon, the launches ought to be fun. GL Randy
Crankworm Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 I love it! I haven't fished muskegon in a few years but I might have to give it a go this weekend. Don't forget the 14' boat with 4 guys and 3 coolers none of them containing fish. bonus if 1 of the guys is wearing hunter orange camouflage and a detroit Lions hat.
