ballsdeep184 Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 I just installed my new cobra vhf and skakspere 8ft antenna, as I was reading the manual it has a warning to not be in a 10ft radius of antenna when transmiting. Now I only have a 18 1/2 ft boat so I was wondering if I should be worried about radiation from this, and how you guys and where you guys mount your antennas. I don't really want to look like a jackass with my antenna raised on a 8 ft pole then the 8ft antenna. I have it on the gunwhale about 3 ft from my face on console side. Any input on this would be greatly appreciated!

Never heard of it being an issue. I dont know too many boats that have one farther than 10' anywhere in the boat.
ballsdeep184 Posted August 11, 2011 Author Posted August 11, 2011 That's what I thougt, I mounted it same spot as my old one. I figured what the hell everything that's fun is goin to kill u, driving to fast, drinking, and now fishing and talking on your vhf. I just thought it was crazy and I have never seen a boat with it mounted corectly. So I'm stickin with how it is.
