slickwater Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 A good friend of mine went out of Manistee this past weekend and they got a 34# king and it was weighed on a certified scale. They sure are running a lot bigger this year.
N II Deep Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 I'm really looking foward to my trip north at the end of the month.....save some big hogs for me.....
Hooked Up Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 That's huge! Biggest salmon I've ever caught was 27#...and that was back in the 80's! Did manage a 25# two years ago on the last trip out for the year...
j1musser Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Thats what i like to hear. That would be just ridiculous. Heading there Friday. Im sure we will have the lake top ourselves.

Started out with the 27 in the ladies tournament in Ludington, then the splash had a 27 and 29, a 32 in Ludington and now a 34 in stee...Will there be a 40 in another month? Im seriously considering respooling my rigger rods to 25#!

DarkBlue Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 Wow, I'm surprised I didn't hear about it up here. Was he on a charter/private? Boat name? Would love to track down the info on it, beacuse that's a pig!! I have been pulling low 20 pound fish consistantly here for some time now, and was just saying to my buddy the other night that there will be some 30#s taken out of this port this year. Sincere congrats to your friend, great fish!Chris

slimits Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 I doubt there will be this big of fish around come end of August, with all this cold water we have now at the pierheads lots of biguns are hittin the rivers for good. Might be slim pickins by then.
Adam Bomb Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 I doubt it...Lots of fish being caught way offshore yet. And some big ones too. From what i hear, its just starting, so id say we have a long ways to go.
