Wittingen Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Took my fiance and her son out on the boat to do a little swiming and then troll for a couple hours. Had her drive the boat which she has never done while I was setting lines. Had both riggers set and was letting the two dipseys slowly go out with loose drags so I could start letting out the coppers when a rigger parked at 70 with a fixed slider 10 feet above the ball fires. I grab the rod and hand it to her seven yr old son and he struggles with all his might to reel in his first ever king salmon. At one point in time he even had to handle the rod by himself so I could grab the net out of the cuddy cabin. I was not expecting to get a fish that quickly at 4:30 in the afternoon. The look on his face and the happy dance after the fish was in the net was priceless. Fish hit in 105 fow on a mixed veggie spoon.
