GLF Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 It is just about time to start fishing on the pond. Does everyone start out fishing big baits or little baits? Spoons or body baits? Is there a "hot" color for spring?
Midway97 Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 I start the year off with little baits, both spoons and body baits, and flie (if you use them). Waters cold and clear so slow and small works for me.
FreeTime Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 Big baits for body baits. My favorite is the 5" Bomber Long A's, the new ones are worthless though. The old ones are totally different. Spoons are standards with Stingers being my favorite Spring spoon.Never really fish flies in the Spring. I have never used the small "popcorn" flies as I try and not target the Coho's. They will come anyway no matter what you run. Those things are so agressive in the Spring you can flip a rubber worm and catch them.Dave
Steve Arend Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 In the spring I run standard spoons and long body baits. I will also, while trolling shallow waters, run the ¼ oz and ½ oz Hot-N-Tot with a trailer small Stinger Scorpion size spoon. You run the Hot-N-Tot deep enough to plow trenches and kick up a lot of sand and the fish go nut over it, they will either hit the Tot or nail the spoons as it come out of the cloud of sand.
CaptLevi Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 Small to medium spoons and body baits. As soon as the Kings show up I begin switching to larger lures though.
