Paulywood Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 How long is your leader? I think I remember someone saying that they had proven success running a short leader (like 10') than longer. Parker got me a core setup for Father's Day and it has a long leader in it.
killerbe20 Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Usually start with 50+/- feet and cut back as needed. I will fish it down to about 10 feet until i feel it is not as productive anymore and then start over. for me, I feel it is easier on the water to cut off a couple feet of bad line and re-tie instead of changing out a 10 foot section all the time.
Fishmael Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 I usually start with 20lb 30' flourocarbon leaders and cut back when needed an replace when under 10'.
Killin' It Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Nick we have been running 75 and cutting as needed if it gets less then 25 we retie.
silver one Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Nick we have been running 75 and cutting as needed if it gets less then 25 we retie. I do the same as Dave. start it all at 75' and when it gets below 30 replace it.
Yankee Troller Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 We use about a 30' leader on our coppers. 20lb McCoy Flouro 100 if we know we are fishing spoons, and 25lb McCoy Mean Green when running paddles.
