How long is your leader? I think I remember someone saying that they had proven success running a short leader (like 10') than longer. Parker got me a core setup for Father's Day and it has a long leader in it.

Usually start with 50+/- feet and cut back as needed. I will fish it down to about 10 feet until i feel it is not as productive anymore and then start over. for me, I feel it is easier on the water to cut off a couple feet of bad line and re-tie instead of changing out a 10 foot section all the time.

Nick we have been running 75 and cutting as needed if it gets less then 25 we retie.

I do the same as Dave. start it all at 75' and when it gets below 30 replace it.

We use about a 30' leader on our coppers. 20lb McCoy Flouro 100 if we know we are fishing spoons, and 25lb McCoy Mean Green when running paddles.
