blahblahduchunter Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Ok guys the tournament is over does anyone have any reports? i will be up the 23rd-30th and will be reporting everyday. any info is always appreciated
EdB Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 We fished from Thursday to Sunday. Started out slow and got better everyday. Got 2 on the bank and inside it from the point north to the 7's. Friday we ran down to the little point and fished from the dunes to south of the point and got 4 for the ladies tourney. Saturday we went back to Little Sable and got 3 on the bank there then we headed offshore to the 41 line and started hitting fish. We had double digit bites but only landed 7. On Sunday, we went offshore off the project and fished the 39's to 41's working north. Double digits bites but only landed 7 again. We were hitting a lot of steelhead and coho's offshore and not keeping them hooked up. Ended up 28th out of 68 boats. It was a spoon bite the first 3 days and then rotators started to work on Sunday. Good rigs were: Yeck lemon ice on a 225 coppers, moonshine green jeans on 300 coppers, moonshine oscar on a 100 copper, white blade/green tape spin doctor and a green fly and a chrome green blade spin doctor worked on riggers down 72 and 82 ft. A black momba meat rig on a 1-1/2 lb out 240ft. A mag fire and ice moonshine on a rigger down 65. Carmal dolphins on a full core and 225 copper. I'm headed back this weekend, good luck.
Adam Bomb Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Nice job Ed. The fishings been anything but spectacular, so id say you did pretty darn well my friend. wtg!
In The Net Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 yea we should be up in Ludington this weekend also, and the fishing has been bad.. We were up their during the 4th of July week and we went 6 for 11 but that is 2 days put together. Alot of copper with meat and wire with meat were what worked best..
Rascal Trophy Fishing Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 I'd say EdB is pretty much on track, the most and larger fish right now are south 20-25 miles from the Lighthouse in Ludington. Fish are still filled with abundant alewives so it's a lite bite many times. Although, I've also heard better fish are still quite deep, and the season is about to explode here when the summer and south fish come now in the next few weeks, running behind due to spring storms/temps.. Another year for patience, but it will pay off soon.
maddiedog Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 That water is really changing. Friday morning 9 fish little point all nice kings with 2 over 20. Friday night went out of ludington and got 2. Saturday morning back to little point only 2. Sunday morning offshore 6. Monday morning 40 fow a little north with 9 big kings.
Lone Star Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Was out last Friday in the morning. 4 for 8 north of the point in 120 - 170 FOW. Had a nice king 25.5lbs on a blue alwife on a 200 copper. Went out in the evening and went 1 for 1 in the same area. Should have gone to the bar instead of fishing
