Flyboy Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 Made it out for only the fourth trip of the year (man work sucks) Based on a few reports yesterday we decided to fish 40-60 fow. Set lines by 5:45 and fished the area till about 7:30 and could not buy a hit. Started moving out and took a 12 lb king on a Flounder Pounder, 150ft of copper. Not to long after in 100 feet or so picked up a real nice steelie on a Double orange crush on 100ft of copper, man did he put on a show, awesome to watch. Then had a real nice hit off the dipsy, fought the fish for a minute, which consisted of the fish peeling over a hundred feet of line and it came unbuttoned. That came on a Double Trouble, 150 back at about 9:00. Picked up a small king in 115 on a candy corn 150 back on the other dipsy and that was it for the morning. Great morning to be back out on the water though.
Hooked Up Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 hard to believe the last few hours were better than the first two! I've had the same thing on the night bite...catching the fish before 9:00, nada after that---used to be prime time the last 30 min before and after sunset. It's not how well you start, but how you finish:grin: Well done!
ALLEYES Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 The full moon probably has something to do with that.
