monark Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 I have not seen it posted in this forum yet but there's a new data buoy set up south of St. Joe in about 68 fow. I guess it's near the Cook Nuclear Plant.http://uglos.engin.umich.edu/station_page.php?station=45026It has real time data that refreshes every 10 minutes with wind, wave and water temp. It will be great to have a buoy closer to us than the one that is southeast of Milwaukee. This one also records water temps at different depths.
Moby Dick Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 This buoy is to do a study for moving the Cook water intake further offshore. This move is to get colder water which increases electrical output by quenching steam better. Each unit at Cook makes about 50-60 megawatts more in the winter versus the summer.
Adam Bomb Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Need some wind to set up the water according to its readings too!!!
d-fresh Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 they one of those at ludington also.Too bad it has been out of commission since July 14...they seem to be having a lot of issues with it.
