downtime Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 ok getting ready to leave and relized i dont have any snubbers for dipsey rods a friend borrowed the rods and never brought them back but any ways do i need snubbers for the leadcore rods as well or just a good drag system work on those
downtime Posted June 17, 2011 Author Posted June 17, 2011 and by the way this is the best place i have found to gain knowledge on great lakes fishing ty to everyone
its an addiction Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 No snubbers for leadcore. Is your diver rod mono or braid or wire? Some people choose not to use snubbers even with braid or wire. I wouldn't stress on it. Go fish!
downtime Posted June 17, 2011 Author Posted June 17, 2011 braided on all my dipseys and ty for the advise
KJ pluggin Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 Just make sure you have your drags set just tight enough so line doesn't creep out and you should be alright. The only time I use snubbers is with mags since I have to tighten the drag down more to get them to hold.
killerbe20 Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 snubbers are more of a personal preference. I usually use them on divers but have occasionally run without. No real difference that i have noticed.
Nailer Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 If you go without snubbers, than at least put 40# as your diver leader.
Seawolf XI Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Ive never used snubbers for ne thing except attaching a set of cowbells to the downrigger balls in the 70s shhhhhhh...... if you set your drags right theres no need for them........
mattmishler Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 I run them on mag low wires, I dont run them on high, low slides, high divers or high wires. Even when i have sunbbers on i still have the drag as loose as i can stand without creeping out.
BenLubbs Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 I run snubbers on all of my divers. When using wire they give you a little more shock absorbency in addition to the rod so that you don't break anything.
spoonfed Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 we dont run them, never had any problems with the wires
BlueCollarOutdoors Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 I run them, get the clear ones if you do, but you can probably get away without them.
