Twill23 Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Headed out this morning with the "Chum Bucket" on his grady white. Fished right around the light house in presque isle around 60-90ft of water. Started the morning off 0-3 on atlantics. Unfortunately the acrobatic suckers just would calm down enough to get close enough to the boat. The atlantics all fired on 5 colors of leadcore with blueberry muffin silver streaks as we were setting. We finally got all set and got into a few kings. Ended up going 6-7 with the kings, returning 2 dinks. After those shut down the lake trout bite turned on. 10colors of lead produced with kavorkian silverstreaks. We ended the day 7-10 on lake trout, with 2 undersized fish going back. It turned out to be a pretty good morning!
Turfwrench Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Nice job on the fish. Sure is nice to see that there have been quite a few kings caught on this side this season. Personally I would like to catch a few more of the Atlantics, they sure are good eating.
slickwater Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 Any new reports for here would like to go there tomorrow.
Priority1 Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 TJ, Keep hammering them. I wish we could have wet a line again this year. I enjoyed fishing with you on your boat and mine.
Twill23 Posted July 3, 2011 Author Posted July 3, 2011 Sorry all, got sent to WV where they've yet to discover internet...The kings came on pretty much everything, 10 colors of lead(kavorkian) wire dipspey 80 back, and flat lines with body baits. As far as a recent report. Numbers out of Alpena are GREAT, although the run isnt.. 36 miles straight east of thunder bay island is producing awesome numbers of lake trout and steelhead. Lake trout are all VERY nice fish in the 10-15lb range.Walleye out of alpena has been hit and miss. LOTS of bait around. Daytime bite has been tough, but the night time bite has been pretty good. Fish are being caught on the big reef as well as partridge point. Body baits in 12-15ft of water right on the structure.
