Flyboy Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 Its been a while since I've set up new rods, and forgot how much backing is needed for rods. How much backing do you need for a dipsy with 330' of braid, copper rods, and lead core rods.Flyboy
KJ pluggin Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 If you haven't checked out the reel fill calculator on the site you should take a look, very helpful for setting up reels. I typically like to have 200 yds or more of backing on my copper and leadcore setups.
Abel Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 Which reels?? My okuma 30's hold right around 200yds of 30 dacron and 300yds of 40lb power pro.
Nailer Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 For my copper rods, I have 650' of 30# PP. The Braid diver should have a min of 600' of pp. There are times when you will belly hook a fish, and she will be out 600'.
Flyboy Posted May 15, 2011 Author Posted May 15, 2011 Well, I have 2 Okuma Magda Pro's lying around and thought I'd use them for dipsy rods. Not wild about the reels, but they were given to me so I figured I'd may as well use them. I believe they're the 30's.
