sjk984 Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 I have an old pair of wave walker foam boards that I love. but now they are starting to break down and I can't find the company to get new ones. So I am going to use the same hard wear and use the old boards for templates. I need some ideas as what to use for the new boards. I don't think we want wood and I am in the process of trying some PVC 1x12 I found in the local lowes. What are some of your ideas like a foam or anything synthetic. Thanks Steve
Abel Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 The best boards I or my old man ever found were Super Ski's made in New York I believe. They've long gona away, but they were a very dense form board. I never liked wood as they absord water, and you need to maintain them everytime you chip the paint. I'd se how well the PVC you found floats, if it is very boyyant, then go for it.
Seawolf XI Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 Cedar all the way and boards run best when waterlogged they stay down and wont skip and airplane in rough water.....and some nice old fashioned oil enamel on them goes a long way

shu9265 Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 Cedar is by far the lightest I have used. I made a set last year out of the PVC 1 x12 material and they are great ! ANd being white, they show up very well.
sjk984 Posted April 26, 2011 Author Posted April 26, 2011 I am going to try to make them out of the pvc 1x12 and ust the old foam boards as a pattern and just transfer all the folding hardware. And if that doesn't work It looks like cedar
adrenalin Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 I don't know how set on making your own you are but I got 2 big boards I don't use like new that I'd sell for a reasonable price. Their collapseable Riveira's.
sjk984 Posted April 26, 2011 Author Posted April 26, 2011 thanks I ave run the riveiera plastic boards and sold them. They rEALLY DIDN'T PERFORM AS WELL AS THE WAVEWALKERS
