cliftp Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 Looks like fun, any idea on the kind of Kayak he was using? I'd like to get something similar for my little lake blue gill fishing.Paul C.
KJ pluggin Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 That might be a Hobie Kayak, I used one last summer and they are very nice to fish from.
ALLEYES Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 I seen that guy ( or another just like him) fishing from a kayak at South Haven a couple weeks ago. He was way in tight to the beach inside of all the boats. I was to far away to see if he was catching fish or not, but he kept going back and forth in a fairly small area.
Just Hook'n Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 I think we saw him in South Haven too. We all looked at that and said - NO WAY. I give him credit for the commitment, but I would not be out on the big water in a kayak in 34 degree water. Go over and you are dead.
steeliebob Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 KJ Pluggin I do not know which boat has more extras on it. He sure had that little boat or kayak loaded up
fishsniffer Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 http://www.greatlakesfisherman.com/gallery/files/1/1/4/4/picture.jpg' alt='picture.jpg'> this is what we seen during the brown blast...i think they were b.s ing during this pic but earlier they were trolling
mattmishler Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 I think that were gonna try it in manistee this fall when the kings are at the pier of my buddies nitro bass boat. But rather than coho were gonna try mature kings.
Youngfish Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 Looks like fun but I would not be out there in a kayak. Nice fish though!
A-Fishy-Anado Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 We are able to cast off shore with ultralights in early spring in munising for small coho like this and it is a blast!! Not sure i would be doing it in a kayak this early though either:eek:

Looks like a Hobie Mirage Pro Angler and they are only $2500. I wish I could afford one because they are sweet kayaks and incredibly stable. You can not only catch gills in your little lake but you can use it for shark fishing too. The guy in the video even has the livewell behind his seat. It only costs $250 extra but your bait will stay alive.
fishohulic Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 Kayak fishing seems to be a new sport that is growing popularity in all bodies of water. I'm wondering where he is fishing to be getting results like that? He is doing better then most people in my neck of the woods.
Awdiwo Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 This looks like a blast. That's a Hobie Kayak. They are very stable. In calm seas it would be very hard to "fall out". What tackle are you using? I have an Ocean Kayak Prowler I am rigging for fishing for an alternative to my Lund Impact. There are many kayaks designed for fishing that are very stable, and not as expensive as the Hobie line. I got mine for less than a grand. Even has a mount in the bottom for a transducer and a mount for a battery. You can also get trolling motors on them. With $4+ gal gas, I think you'll see many more kayaks out fishing.

steeliebob Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 An alternative to high gas prices. Looks like fun too.
Killin' It Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 I did this before I had my boat. Trolled round the piers during combat season.... Nothing like getting towed by a 15 pound king!
