GLF Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 How does it work with an over sized load permit crossing state lines? Do you have to get a permit for each state, or will an over sized load permit from one state allow you to cross all of the state lines?
J J Mac Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 I'm from Michigan and bought a boat in Ohio in 2002. I had to get a wide load permit for both states.
GLF Posted August 27, 2006 Author Posted August 27, 2006 Thanks Marv! Where did you pull your permits from? Can it be done over the phone?
captain_crabass Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 try TC permit sevices, I found them on the net when pulling a 30 Baha from Wisconsin to PA, made life simple for a reasonable service feehttp://www.tcpermitservice.com/Types.htm
J J Mac Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 As mentioned above, you can use various companies that get the permits for you or you can deal directly with the state agencies which is what I have done. In Michigan, you go thru MDOT. On the following federal web site is a list of phone numbers/web sites for all the states. I found another reference to a Michigan phone number to call that differs from the one listed and may be current. It is Joe Goke, 517-373-2121. http://ops.fhwa.dot.gov/freight/sw/permit_report.htm
