N II Deep Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Looking to see if some one in the Grand Rapids area has a Mercuriser hinge pin tool that I could use for a few days. I am replacing the shift cable, all bellows, and trim sensor this week. Hope to be on the water the following weekend.
jimbobber Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 if your hinge pins arent in to tight you can use an allen wrench. This was some info given to me by my mecanic as i do not have one either.otherwise you can get one on ebay for 20 bucks i think.
Vitalidle Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 If nobody has one for your use local I can lend you mine. Obviously would have to send it to you through the mail. I no longer have a mercruiser, so its just collecting dust right now. Let me know I don't mind sending it out to you. Also I have a brand new trim and tilt sender switches for the drive. If you haven't purchased already you can have them as I have no use for them as well:thumb:

Priority1 Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Jon, Jimbobber is right about the tool. I did mine 3 years ago and a allen wrench did the job. It is a larger size wrench that I happened to have.
2UNREEL Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 I have the hinge pin tool, send me a pm if you need to borrow it. I would not use an allen wrench for this job could get nasty otherwise.
