Eliminator Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Hi guys, I have a 2008 Nissan kicker that I used on my last boat but don't know if it will work on the new boat. It has a 15" shaft, and now I have a 21' trophy that sits much higher then the old boat. What size shaft do you use and what bracket?
j1musser Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Just donate it with ur old boat. They wont work on new boats!
FsnMachine Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 That is a short shaft. Sorry to say it is not likely going to work.
Eliminator Posted March 24, 2011 Author Posted March 24, 2011 Just donate it with ur old boat. They wont work on new boats! Lol!!! Thanks Jarod, I never thought of that. I am glad to hear to are out and doing good this year, this weekend is my shake down, then to the Joe.
fishsniffer Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 I think you need about an inch between your anti cavitation plate and you're hull vertically. I can almost gaurantee a short shaft won't work. I had a long shaft Merc that barely made it
Adam Bomb Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Youll want a long shaft motor and youll still need to be careful when mounting it. In larger swells it may cavitate if you go too high.
mattmishler Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 yes you want the longest one you can find. We went with the sailboat motor and would never go with anything else.
