Hotdog71 Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 Dave, look on the bright side. All hands and boat made it back home. Could have been worse, thankfully it wasn't.
Priority1 Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 Dave, Sorry about your misfortune. Equipment can be fixed or replaced. It was a good trip and everyone is home safely.
Killin' It Posted March 21, 2011 Author Posted March 21, 2011 4300 in damage Waiting on the insurance to see if they will cover any....

Killin' It Posted March 22, 2011 Author Posted March 22, 2011 Water pump blewOil pump blewCarbs... blastedprop goneSome more to list, but cant remember-Hull of the boat was fine, tried to use the kicker to get off the sandbars and out to big water. We shall see if it is a total loss Tuesday morning. On the plus side the Lower unit looks good though....She was running like a champ, and a random sandbar got the best of me.I may or may not have cut the corner a bit to close on the north side of Mac.10 foot10 foot6"so my luckTrying to figure out if I can afford to fix it or give it up:(
Nailer Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Water pump blewOil pump blewTrying to figure out if I can afford to fix it or give it up:(Water pump is easy to fix. parts cost around $25?Dump the vro oil pump and replace with a standard fuel pump. You will have to mix the gas, but it's way cheaper than a new vro pump. After spending $350+ for a vro pump 2 different times I switched my 50 hp Evenrude to a standard fuel pump, with no troubles scenes. Also very easy to do.
MY2SONS Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 4300 in damage Waiting on the insurance to see if they will cover any.... Damn! How hard did you hit the sand bar? I ran aground on Lake Mac once when I was a newbe, and didn't know the lake. Luckily I wasn't going very fast, and was able to free myself. That sucks. Hopefully your insurance takes care of you in time. Good luck.
Killin' It Posted March 22, 2011 Author Posted March 22, 2011 Insurance called...Everything is going to be covered and I should have the boat back next week.

Killin' It Posted March 22, 2011 Author Posted March 22, 2011 Jimmy,This was the first time I ever had that big of issue... I just got to far to the north side when leaving the launch. Are there any other major sandbars that were not out there last summer
