Eliminator Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Hi guys,I just received my new convector reels and wondered the best way to tie power pro to the reel with out it slipping. Also wondering how you do it for wire on wire dipseys. Most of them will be spooled with power pro then blood run 32 lb copper. Not sure if I can wing wire divers or just do power pro again.
killerbe20 Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 I have heard putting electrical tape on the spool first solves the problem but i can not speak for that. I think i would go with a really short section of mono to tie on the spool and then connect to the braid/wire. dont really like spicing lines together but that connection will probably never see the light of day anyways.
Hotdog71 Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 I haven't used power pro but I do use fireline and the tape has worked for me.
cduced Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Black tape and an arbor knot (http://www.animatedknots.com/arbor/index.php) will work as will a base of mono. -- Bud
Nailer Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 I tie the line to the spool, than crank a 2" pc. of electrical tape on over the line.
GLF Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 I tie the line to the spool, than crank a 2" pc. of electrical tape on over the line. This is what I do for my reels with fireline and wire.
j1musser Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 I tie the line to the spool, than crank a 2" pc. of electrical tape on over the line.I do about the same
mriversinco Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 I too use the electrical tape since I can't afford the room of even a little mono on my reel. Works fine so far.
fishsniffer Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 I put the the tape then the power pro or wire. Never a problem
Priority1 Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Black tape and an arbor knot (http://www.animatedknots.com/arbor/index.php) will work as will a base of mono. -- Bud What he said.
Side JOB Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 You can also have the reel pinned witch makes a rock solid conection
Adam Bomb Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 I always tie 5' of mono on with an arbor knot and then attach the powre pro to it via back to back uni knot. As far as the wire connection, you cannot beat the Willis Knot IMO. Its so nice not dealing with crimps.
spy1o1 Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 anybody use the foam tape rectangles that come with power pro? I usually use a mono backing but have one reel with the foam tape and it has worked good so far.
