I'd like some feedback on this reel if anyone has it.

I bought one this past weekend new for $40.00. I needed two more linecounter reels and figured I'd take a chance on something I hadn't researched before purchasing so I bought just one.

I figured I've spent that much in a bar and didn't have anything to show for it in the morning.

As always....thanks!

its a nice entry level reel. if you are using it everyday, it may or may not hold up. for simple recreational use i think it is a fine reel.

I'd say the reel is fine, especially for the price. They seem to have some problems with the drag on them. If you are comfortable going into it and upgrading to carbon fiber drags, it makes a huge difference. For weekend warriors I'd say the reel with the carbon drags make a pretty good combo. You can get the upgraded drags at tuna toms for 7 bucks. Pretty easy to do too.

That's me! :thumb:

I'll keep the link for the drag upgrade in the event I need to do it....or decide to do it anyway.

I used those on my full cores for 5 years and never had any issues , just remember to keep oil on the level wind gear.

I updated to convectors couple years ago .

I have a bunch for my core and small copper. They have held up well for this weekend warrior. Slowly upgrading to convectors but wouldnt have crap now if id started with spendy gear. Not big fan for dipsy but have had good experience for 4 yrs for others. Not bad for midrange cores that i dont use a crapload too. Just my .02.

I need to learn how to do drag upgrades would be nice.

I agree with everything said. They'll work just fine. Drags can be upgraded when you have time or money.

I don't know about this modle but I have others , that have gone the distance last year. Using xp452 and xp302 for lead core without any problems.I set up 2 45dx for copper and 2 45 convectors for wire. I my opion these are much better than the Diawa's. LC27 or LC47 reels. Should do you just fine.
