tracker targa Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 does anybody use dodgers and squids for salmon on lake michigan anymore with good succsess when i was a kid we used them on huron and did ok and my grandpas vision went and he gave me probably at least 50 0f them just wondering what i should run them behind i dont hear many people using them anymore.
silver one Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 I still use them and so do alot of other fishermen that I here when Im out on the lake. I would just run them like any other fly. behind your favorite flasher. 8" blue bubble protroll would be a good choice or Mt.dew spin doctor or green with reflective prisum tape jensen doger and I prefer longer leaders with squid.30+ inches. as I do best with squid in the dog days of summer.
Rascal Trophy Fishing Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 A few years ago a friend opened a boat drawer and found about 50 new squids, and wondered what to do with them. I told him they were around well before all the new flies we use now, and that they really work too. He rigged about 6 of them right away and saw his catch drastically improve right away. Yes, they still work and the Michigan glow frog and glow clown were some of my favs..
Line Dancin Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 I use squids two different ways. 4 1/2" squids for lakes behind dodgers. 2 in glow squids under the flys to add extra glow.
mattmishler Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 I love my squids. My two favorite set ups are a 8 inch blue bubble spin dock with blue frog squid Android white crush spin dock with green glow squid. Both with 18 inch leaders
Priority1 Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Glow squids behind a flasher or dodger are great. New things come out and old things get forgotten. They still work well. A lot of meat rigs use multiple squid attractors ahead of the meat head.
A-Fishy-Anado Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 We still use squids in the early am with a little sushi and a 1" glow stick tied inside the body with great sucess in superior and northern lake michigan. Still a few others i know that use them but not many it seems anymore.
UBDSLO1 Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 I still use squids, I like the Michigan Squids, mostly green colors. Dodgers are ok for me, but I use them mainly behind Hoochies. Again, for me, squids seem to catch the bigger kings, don't know why.
