scgibby11 Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Hi all. I'm not asking anyone to give up their spots, but a little information about perch fishing in So. Lake Michigan would be great.I have the boat at the southern end of the lake most years until the end of May. I then move it north. I generally salmon and trout fish but spend some time on the bigger inland lakes further north.I would like to go for some perch this Spring. Any advice would be helpful. Is there much of a perch bite in the spring? I tend to go out of St. Joe's or South Haven. Thanks,Scott
j1musser Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 In front of dunes just south of south haven always seems to be good. Look for the packs. Never fished real early in season though.
DIRTY DOG Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 There really is no early spring perch fishing out st. joe or south haven , they really dont heat up that far south till mid june. But there is a GREAT fishery out of Grand haven in april and very early may.
killerbe20 Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 waukegan has a fantastic spring perch fishery. starts usually march/april and goes up to +/-june.

Also don't hesitate to run north up near Glen, we have done well there before.
xpndbl3 Posted April 4, 2011 Posted April 4, 2011 Excellent perch fishing will be starting up shortly out of indiana waters, if you're venturing this far into "south" lake michigan.
Moby Dick Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 Had an old teacher friend who tracked his perch catch. Never caught many until June 20th. He used to catch about 2000/year.
