Nailer Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 (edited) I tried to get a shot of the blizzard. Its not easy hand holding in a 40mph wind in the dark Three different shutter speeds. Edited February 2, 2011 by Nailer
Hotdog71 Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 It is not nice out there right now. Cool shot though. Almost looks like a flashlight coming out of the trees
Nailer Posted February 2, 2011 Author Posted February 2, 2011 It's a 500 watt halogen on my flag pole.
Adam Bomb Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 That winds really cranking here Ken. Snows just about to start....dang it!
Line Dancin Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 I tried doing night shots like that and it is a PITA. only way i can get them really ewell is to use a tripod and my remote for my camera.
JWheeler Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 Snowing and blowing here too. Went out for gas. Went to my usual shell station, those dudes raised the price to $3.34/gallon, Meijer right across the street was $3.14. Not sure if gas is going up $ .20 everywhere tomorrow, but if not, those dudes are gonna be hard pressed to get my money after that. I know that everyone is filling up their vehicles, snowblowers and such, along with stocking up on groceries from the store, but NOT COOL
Paulywood Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 I got called home by the wife at 2 am because we didn't have power. Made it all the way home and got my truck stuck at the end of the driveway. Had to get the snowblower out and get rid iof the 4' drifts in order to get my truck off the road. Consumers says the power will be on by 8 am so I typing by lantern right now. Shelley finally agreed with me that a generator would be a good idea. I'lll try to get a picture of the shoulder high drift in my back yard.
tgafish Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 5 inches over in metro detroit. Stopped snowing at 3:30 am. 80% of my crew called in. Bunch of pansies:cray:
Eyefull Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 I just arrived at work. M15 was a graveyard of burried cars off the road. Most houses/driveways on our road (east/west) have 6foot plus drifts and the east west roads are unpassable even with an F350. I would say that we got somewheres around 8-10 inches, but with the other foot of fluff we already had, the wind had a great time with it all. 7:30 am, 40 turkeys out in the blizzard eating what I put out last night for the squirells:eek:
Ashman Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 We aren't getting hit (yet) like I thought we would. I have a 800' driveway and use my Deere farm tractor to keep cleaned out....couple of passes and I was good. Snows coming down pretty good here at the moment, so I'm sure I'm not done plowing. Not sure if gas is going up $ .20 everywhere tomorrow, I read that the current uprising in Egypt is why the price jumped, I think the oil companies just look for any reason they can to raise the price.
JWheeler Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 I think the oil companies just look for any reason they can to raise the price.I agree. When gas was $4.50/gallon they made record proffits, anything to turn a dime I guess. Just sucks when the rest of the economy tanks and they're making record proffits.....just sayin
joelsanders Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 last night the speddway gas station ran out of regular gas so they gave premium out at the regular price $3.05 so i filled up! sweet!
Boltman Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 Tony , you need a 2010 F450 Dually Diesel..... THat will make it through..I've got 3100 pounds in the bed of Obsolete Parts... in a Huge Orange Tub... It works for me....I'm heading out right now to go to the store.
Eyefull Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 Leaving work at around 3:30, hopefully will get some time to play on the way home. They looking at 2 or 3 hours of snow removal.
1mainiac Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 Looks like we got 15 to 18in last night however a quick note on gas prices first the oil companies do not set the price the price is set like any other commodity and is controlled by speculators. This price is set at several times a day and finalized at market close some gas stations will change their prices every time the new price comes out others do it at market close. All of the late night changes were based on local greed since the fuel they were selling was already in their tank and had been billed out. SO if you got gouged by your local station it was them or their district management that gouged you. I am sure many of them panicked at the thought they might run out of gas and be a day or 2 before the trucks could get them filled back up. Others are just greedy but in any event it was a local increase.
sjk984 Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 I made the 10mile ride towork this morning on my sled. Only skiddedacross 1 main road and the cops didn't even bother me. On the way home the subdivision streets were like trails and It was some of the best riding I have ever had.
