sjk984 Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 I was just at BPS and they had some 4'' swimbaits for half off. I picked up a couple to try next spring.Does anyone use these or tried them even. They are pretty pricey so I am wondering if I should get a few more.Steve
flyman013 Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 I love swimbaits for salmon. Depending on what type you use, you may need to watch your trolling speed. I have run a few too fast and the action wasn't too great.
sjk984 Posted January 20, 2011 Author Posted January 20, 2011 What speed do you run them at. I will be fishing spring coho about 2.0.
tracker targa Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 steve i havnt used them for salmon yet but i did run them at harbor beach for lake trout slow at 1.8 to 2.2 and caught a few on them even picked up a decent walleye im sure there good for salmon to
jay d Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 the challenger lynx, now discontined. is a great baite in the fall for browns on my boat.the metallic rainbow trout has put 2 master anglers and lots of smaller fish in the box for me.i have not played with any of the others yet
flyman013 Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 What speed do you run them at. I will be fishing spring coho about 2.0.That speed should work great. I had my best action below 2.4
Turfwrench Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 I have ran the Matzuo 4" swimbaits and have had pretty good success with them for eyes and lakers. They have the paddle tail on them, not the spiral. Purple was killer for the lake trout and seemed to troll real nicely off the downriggers.
