fuzzy Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Anyone have any experience or thoughts on these? Can the tip be replaced to accept line knots? Thank You for your thoughts.
1mainiac Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Sure was glad to see them leave when I sold mine. Not sure I would take another set if they were free. The list of issues with them is long ask anyone who has fished with them I bet you get the same or similar answer.
JWheeler Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 I have a pair that I've been using for my low divers. Relatively new to me, no issues to speak of so far. Not sure if you can change the tip to accept knots. What are you looking to do exactly?
killerbe20 Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 they are the only rods i use and have ever used except for my coppers and long cores. the daiwas i use are the best smoothest rods i have ever fished. started with store brand rods that were not very good, but the daiwas are awesome.i use them with straight mono, braid and wire divers, SWRs on my downriggers, and up to 5 color cores on boards. with leadcore the only knot i think that works going through the rod is the willis knot. i am not sure about changing the tip out. never had to think about it, even with the wire diver rods. my rods are going on seven years now and are still flawless. The only issue i have with them is early in the the summer with the floating cotton wood but i have issues with that clogging my regular rods too. when ever i have had some stuff clogged in there, a simple over hand know pulled through out the tip frees them up. if i had any other complaint about them it would be their price, but them again going on seven years is a good initial investment! if anyone has some of the daiwas they want to get rid of let me know, i could use a few more!
Yankee Troller Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 I've heard good and bad about them. The bad being the fleas and the cottonwood. I used those rods in the Bass world for my flipping sticks, but never trolling the Big O. Cool concepts though.
fuzzy Posted January 17, 2011 Author Posted January 17, 2011 I am looking at a couple of 10ftrs. Thinking about using them for longlining for eye's. Since I pull double duty on some of my rods. Looking for other uses of the innerflo rods. Where I could use them for the pond in my setup. Thanks for your answers.
Priority1 Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 Sounds like a lot of things, "ya either love em or hate em". I have always been curious about them, but never tried them.
1mainiac Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Are you talking about the original White inner flow rod or the Diawa I had a set of the white ones a long time ago and hated them. I have heard a couple of people say they like the Diawa better. Still not enough for me to try them again.
ChampionShip Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Have 2 of them- Cabela's brand I think. They work pretty nicely for riggers, but only on straight mono, which means only flasher/flies. I tried getting them to accept my back to back uni knot and fluoro leader for spoons, but it was more hassle than it was worth.
Priority1 Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 It's not against the rules to run spoons on mono. Just personal preferences.
ChampionShip Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 It's not against the rules to run spoons on mono. Just personal preferences. Agreed. Some do well with straight mono to spoons, I just personally use a fluoro lead.
fuzzy Posted January 21, 2011 Author Posted January 21, 2011 I decided to try them. They are 10'6". Will be used for a horizontle flat line for eye's. Not sure how they will fit in my spread on the pond. What benifit is it if any to use a longer rigger rod vs short. Is it just preference?
Priority1 Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 It seems the shorter rods work out better on the smaller boats because of the room available. Longer rigger rods are tougher to move other rods over the top of them. Every boat setup fishes slightly different. You may try one rod length and decide that a shorter or longer one will work out better in your spread. It seems I re-think and over think my set up every winter. Fine tuning the little things means a lot.
fuzzy Posted January 23, 2011 Author Posted January 23, 2011 I run cannons perp. with rod holdr in same dir. Also have stacker holdr out the back that can be adjusted. Going to try in back. If not workable will try as braid dyp rod.
