I am from Southern ILL.,retired, and going to try my luck at Salmon fishing. Most of my fishing has been walleye on LBDN, I will be docking my 20 ft. Cresrtliner sabra at Manistee next year, so if you all could give me any advice on Salmon fishig,I sure could use it.Also looking for a couple of guys to fish with and teach me the ropes. Look fowarrd to enjoying the Manistee area and meeting new people. Maybe someone could tell me when the season start and how it progress's in the summer and fall. Thanks to all, this is a great site. Welcome aboard Richard. I have not fished out of Manistee since the 80's, but there are plenty here who have.

Dont be afraid to ask questions on the forums.

Hi Propman, A good place to start with information is the local Manistee Sportfishing Association, also the Ludington Area Charterboat Association. I know LACA has a website, Manistee probably does too. April-October is the prime season. Welcome, and good fishing.

Welcome Richard, you will find lots of good info on this site thats for sure! If you ever want to stop in Holland Mi. or come up I would gladly take you out on my boat(a 20 ft. sea ray) and show you the techniques and tackle we use for salmon here. I have never fished out of manistie but would love to some day . JImmy
