Just ordered a Garmin Nuvi 500 and am want to make sure i get the right map for it. Looking at the Garmin BlueChart g2 map. The numbers HXUS039R. Covers a huge area of the US including the great lakes region. Anyhow, it says it has lake contours, but i was wondering how the detail was on this map if anyone has it? It'll be used primarily on Saginaw Bay and i want the detailed contour mapping. Just wish i could see an example of the detail before i pull the trigger on it. Thanks for any and all imput.

I have the lakemaster chip in my lowrance. The only issue I have with it, is at a certain depth(I can not remember what that depth(around 100-150' and deeper)) the depth contours show up in gray instead of black.

I use a lakemaster wisconsin in my nuvi 255w? from my car. works great even shows contours.

You can preview online what they will show you.

Thanks guys. LM had a preview of the Nuvi 500 contours which sold me on their chip. Thanks for the insight and suggestions.
