Oil spill refocuses attention on Kalamazoo River pollution

The July spill cast a national spotlight on the river. Yet little attention was given to the PCBs that have plagued the river for decades.Now the EPA's chief administrator for the region says the spill provides an opportunity to refocus efforts on removal of the PCBs, which are located on a stretch of the river nearly three times as long as the spill zone.
