flyman013 Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 I was thinking of putting an onboard battery charger on my boat. Where I want to put it is completely enclosed. Do these charges need an open air installation so they don't overheat?
ALLEYES Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 Depends on how big the area is that is enclosed. Mine is in a enclosed area, but it runs 3/4 the length of the boat. Never had a problem.
Nailer Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 I have never noticed a lot of heat coming off my charger, and think it would be ok in an enclosed area. Buy the best one you can afford, it will save you money in the long run. I have the Minn kota Mk345 3 bank charger and it is the best investment I've made.
