bmsstp4u Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 Do most of you use a swivel on the fly leader, so you can change dodger colors, or do you tie direct to the attractors swivel?
Nailer Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 I tie a loop on the end of my flies. Then push the loop through the swivel and around it.
killerbe20 Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 loop at the end of the fly leader. makes for quick changing, especially on attractors with cork screws or snaps on them.
bmsstp4u Posted August 2, 2010 Author Posted August 2, 2010 I tie a loop on the end of my flies. Then push the loop through the swivel and around it.any certain knot for the loop
killerbe20 Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 i just make a loop, and a single "regular" over hand knot with the loop
1mainiac Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 Once I have a combo I like I tie them together in the past I have also put bead swivels on a lot of my flies and added a snap to the flasher. But for the most part I go with less connections to break is better so I direct tie a lot of my setups. When you start thinking about it a lot of our setups have way to many connections that could fail a typ diver with a flasher fly has 7 or more connections that could fail. If you reduce that to 5 you have increased the chances of catching more fish by reduceing the number of failures you could deal with. There are times my wallet cringes when I think about how much money I hang on a peice of string with a dozen knots in it LOL.
Tad Pole Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 I tie a loop in the end of my fly leader and use these,i'm not sure if these are the same brand we baught them years ago and we have never had one fail but it makes changing flys easyhttp://www.corefishingtackle.com/OffshorePigtail_swivel.htm

Nailer Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 i just make a loop, and a single "regular" over hand knot with the loop^^ Yea That ^^

1mainiac Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 I have a whole bag of them in front of me on my desk they work pretty good they are from Opti Tackle and have a duo lock on one end of the swivel and the cork screw on the other I like them but stopped using them. Mostly because of the swivel I try to stick to all ball bearing swivels with welded rings and these are just standard swivels.
Tad Pole Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Ah Jim your right here they are.It looks like if your willing to spend the money you could upgrade with the hardware they have on this site.http://www.optitackle.com/terminaltackle.shtml
Tad Pole Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 Ok I said that I would post a pic of the pigtailed swivel when I got one so I was going threw some suff and I found one so here it is.
Tad Pole Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 Oppps not sure why the pic didnt work ive always been able to post pics before?
