jimcr Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 The cold water is still close to shore, but the fish seem to be scattered.Took My father out on the big pond today , he has never caught a Salmon before. Left the launch at 1pm headed east to 45 ft, not very far. Set 9 rods 6 lead core 2 riggers and 1 dipsey. Being the middle of the day I figured that we get a fish or two , out for about a half hour and five color goes off, pull the rod and hand it off to my father. picked up a nice 8 lb king , get fish in the boat and Dad says is that rod suppose to be standing up straight? yea I said ,then looking up realized that it was the rigger and I thought he was talking about the lead core rod. 7lb king on a chrome green dot sd and a Mag tinsel fly. set at 45 down and 50 back.Ten minutes later 7 color start screaming ,Nick takes this one turns out to be the biggest of the trip at 12lb. Blue dolphin takes another one. 7 and five colors were the next 2 to go off , lost both , Dad really had fun couldn't budge the fish before spitting out the bait. Same thing happens to me on a blue chilly wily. The next 2 fish came on one of the spoons my wife picked out . a purple muffin. When she pick it out at Gander another gentle man kind of chucked and said to her would you bite it , we all had a laugh at that, only now shes laughing because her spoon has taken most of the fish since we bought it. Had a fun time with my father and son today . Just hope the weather and the cold water stay around for a while.
